In July 2022, just 45 days after turning 50, I experienced a sharp pain in my left hip after a long day of sitting at ballgames and “sprinting” back and forth to the car. What I thought was a simple ache turned into 2.5 years of ongoing treatment — including chiropractic care, three different physical therapists, and multiple injections — all aimed at addressing three bulging discs in my lumbar spine and SI joint issues. Despite all of this, I made little progress and was becoming increasingly frustrated and discouraged.
When Jesse launched Sylvester Fitness, he mentioned that he believed he could help me. Skeptical but determined, I decided to give it a try.
After just three months of working together, my pain has gone from a chronic 8 to a manageable 4. I can now get in and out of the car and stand up after a long movie or car ride with minimal discomfort — everyday activities that once felt overwhelming. Even more surprising, Jesse has guided me back into exercises I thought I would never do again, while also introducing me to new movements I had never attempted before.
We began in December with primarily stretching and muscle activation sessions three times a week. Over time, we progressed to three days of challenging strength training, including cardio and impact-based work. Jesse also provided nutrition guidance, giving me a well-rounded, whole-body approach to fitness and healing.
Most importantly, I can now lift, carry, and play with my granddaughter — who arrived in mid-December — without fear or hesitation. What once felt impossible is now part of my everyday joy, and I’m deeply grateful for this transformation.
